City Budget, Take Part!

Council will not be passing the budget until March 10, 2016 which means there are still opportunities to get involved. January 21 was the first round of discussions by Council. If you go to the City’s web site and look for the Council meeting agendas, you will be able to watch the discussions. August Neighborhood News

Sherwood Forest Park Site

We are still awaiting an update from city staff on the timelines for the tendering of the portion of the site that will become housing. Stay tuned.

All the buildings and even the sidewalks on the site have been removed. We were told (second hand) that the gym is going to be rebuilt in the village of Mossley. When the demolition crew is done, they are to hydro-seed the site with grass seed.

Open House on City’s Draft Strategic Plan

Our Ward Councillor Phil Squire and Ward 5 Councillor Maureen Cassidy are holding a joint open house on Friday January 30 from 6-8 pm at the 2nd floor community room at the Loblaw’s at Richmond and Fanshawe.  As you are probably aware Council is working on the new Strategic Plan for the City and are looking for input.  The Strategic Plan will drive future City budgets so having your say is important.

Neighbourhood Update and Reminder

Sherwood Forest School Site Update

The city staff recommendation for the rezoning passed unanimously at the City Council’s Planning and Environment Committee last night. I anticipate it will pass next week at City Council. We will keep you up to date as the process moves forward. The next step will be the City declaring the “non-park” portion surplus and preparing a Request for Proposals for the sale and development of the “housing” portion of the site.
