As many of you are aware, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, City Council’s Planning and Environment Committee (PEC) will vote on a proposed zoning amendment for the properties at 299–307 Sarnia Road.
A document outlines neighbourhood concerns with this proposed zoning change. This document was also sent to be included on the PEC.
Some of you may think, “I live on Wychwood Park, Lawson, or somewhere else that is not immediately beside this development.”
The fact is, this proposal will affect our entire neighbourhood.
The increased density being proposed could create significant traffic congestion and increased cut-through traffic as drivers look for ways around the congestion. This could directly affect Bloomfield Drive, Ramsay Avenue, Kininvie Drive, Stirrup Court, Sleighthome Avenue, and many other neighbourhood streets.
Please take a few minutes to read the “Coles Notes” summary outlining neighbour’s opposition to this zoning change.
We Need Your Help
There are three things we are asking from our neighbours:
1. Lawn Sign: Will you allow us to put a “NO” sign opposing this proposal on your front lawn?
2. Letter to PEC: Can you write a letter to pec@london.ca expressing your opposition or support for this zoning amendment. Every letter helps ensure that residents’ voices are heard. If you do send the letter, please ask that it get included on the added agenda for the meeting of September 9th.
3. Attend at City Hall: Please attend the PEC meeting on Wednesday, September 9, starting no earlier than 1:00 p.m. third floor Council Chambers at City Hall.
Your presence will demonstrate that this is not just an issue for residents living immediately beside the property. It is an issue that affects our entire community.
4. The full City Council will consider the decision of PEC at its meeting on September 22. The meeting starts at 1 pm. It is too early to determine when this zoning application will be heard. If you wish to submit a letter for the City Council agenda, you may do so no later than Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 9 am to councilagenda@london.ca
