Reminder: Annual BBQ and AGM, Thurs, May 23

As a reminder, the Ratepayers annual BBQ will be this Thursday, May 23rd, at Orchard Park Public School starting at 6 pm, followed by our Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 7:30.

If you can help with clean up and take down right before the AGM, it would be appreciated. Just drop by the grill and let the cooks know you are available.

Anyone interested in serving on the Executive should contact Sandy Levin. We are also looking for someone to take minutes of the meeting. Let us know if you are interested – paper and pen provided!

The AGM will include speakers from the City’s Age Friendly Initiative, Salthaven, our City Hall report from Councillor Squire, and an update on the park and housing development at the former Sherwood Forest School site.

AGM and BBQ – May 23

May is here. That means the community Annual General Meeting and 4th annual BBQ at Orchard Park Public School will take place on Thursday, May 23. The BBQ starts at 6 pm and the meeting at 7:30 pm. There are a lot of updates that will be shared at the meeting along with a City Hall report and Q and A with Councillor Squire. Please spread the word.

Request for input on new Sherwood Forest Park

The City is looking for feedback on the new Sherwood Forest Park by April 19 via a survey.

The storyboards presented at the open house on the the park on April 3 should be available soon on the City’s website (london.ca/parks). We will also post a link here on the website when they are available.

The City has also been invited to the ratepayers Annual General Meeting on Thurs, May 23rd at Orchard Park P.S. (at 7:30 pm following the annual BBQ) to give us an update on what they have planned by that point. By May 23, they expect to have a “near final” version with only minor tweaks before putting together the paperwork to start the park construction this fall. Thus, get your comments in now. City staff also advised that some trees are in poor condition and will have to be removed when the park is constructed.

Thames River / Medway Creek Clean Up

Save the date for this year’s spring clean-up on Saturday, April 27th. This will mark the 20th anniversary of the Thames River Clean Up – what an amazing milestone, and all thanks to the dedication of volunteers.

There will be a clean-up in our area at Fanshawe Park Road where the bridge crosses Medway Creek. That clean-up will start at 9 am on April 27. For more info see http://www.thamesrivercleanup.ca/
