Western University siren testing this week
Western has planned a test of its emergency weather siren between Tuesday and Thursday, Aug. 26-28, to ensure the system’s effective operation in warning campus and the surrounding community of severe weather situations.
The sirens are intended to be heard outdoors, and when that happens you should take immediate shelter indoors. Western is attempting to be able to send social media notifications when the audible tests are sounding this week, but these tests are not scheduled and at the discretion of those installing additional hardware.
It is Western’s intention to begin regular audible tests of the weather siren this Fall. They will share information about these tests as it becomes available.
To find out more about Western’s Emergency Weather Siren and what to do in an actual acute weather situation, visit the Severe Weather Siren webpage.
Public Information Meeting on the Sherwood Forest School site – Sept 3
The City of London will be hosting a Public Information Meeting to introduce, and seek the public’s comment on a draft land use option for the redevelopment of the former Sherwood Forest Public School site and associated playfields.
Location: City Hall 2nd Fl Committee Room #1 & 2
300 Dufferin Avenue, City Hall
Date: Wednesday, September 03, 2014
Time: 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Unfortunately, the City was unable to find a venue in the area for this meeting. They wanted an early September meeting in order to make a public participation meeting at the City Council Planning Committee on October 7, so that a decision would be in front of City Council at its last meeting (October 14) before the municipal election.
Please contact Brian Turcotte at 519-661-2500 ext. 4651, or email bturcott@london.ca for further details about the Public Information Meeting. Residents in Orchard Park/Sherwood Forest will be getting a letter in mail as well.
