A letter from Brescia regarding an outdoor event on Thursday, September 8:
Dear Brescia Neighbour,
We are thrilled to share Brescia will be returning to in-class learning for the 2022-2023 Academic Year. Our University looks forward to welcoming students back into the warm and enriching environment we have strived to create for more than 100 years.
As valued members of our community and long-time friends of Brescia, we are writing to ensure you have a great deal of notice with regards to Afilifest, which will be held on our campus this Thursday, September 8th. During the event, we will host the other two affiliate universities (Huron and King’s) for an evening of networking and well-managed celebration.
The event will commence at 7 p.m. and will be wrapped up no later than 11 p.m. During this time, there will be music playing, but it will not exceed an appropriate volume. We are committed to ensuring we do not disturb the neighbourhoods surrounding our campus. As in previous years, Afilifest will be a dry event, so no alcohol will be served or permitted on Brescia’s grounds.
While we do not foresee any issues arising, we are proactively working with Western’s Campus Police to ensure additional security is available – both in support of the safety of our students and the comfort of our nearby communities. If you have any questions or concerns leading up to the event, please contact me directly at 519.432.8353 x28156. Additionally, if you would like to get in touch with us on the evening of September 8th, please call the Clare Hall 24-hour Front Desk at 519-858-5150.
After two years of compromised learning and living environments, we hope you will feel as excited as we are to see our students thriving within and contributing to our vibrant city. We appreciate your kind consideration of this letter and your patience and understanding as we continue to nurture a vital partnership with all those within and beyond our campus.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Temple
